Rodini Park
Back to all places
Rodini Park, located at Lindou 211 in Rhodes, Greece, is one of the oldest landscaped parks in the world, tracing its origins back to the times of ancient Greece.
Established during the Hellenistic period, the park was thought to be designed by the same engineers who conceptualized the ancient city of Rhodes around 3rd century BCE. Historically, it was a place of academia and leisure for the Rhodesian intellectuals, who were drawn to its tranquil settings conducive to scholarly and philosophical pursuits.
The park is renowned for its lush greenery, meandering streams, and a small zoo that houses a variety of peacocks and other animals, which add vibrant life to the serene landscape. A notable feature of the park is the remnants of the ancient aqueduct that once served as a major engineered water supply system for the ancient city. Additionally, Rodini Park is believed to be the site of the famed School of Rhetoric where prominent figures such as Julius Caesar, Cicero, and Cato the Younger were educated.
Over the centuries, the park has retained its charm and continues to be a delightful oasis of nature. Its pathways, shaded by ancient trees, lead visitors through a scenic route of historical relics and natural beauty, offering a peaceful escape from the bustling city life.
