Mandraki Marina & Port

Mandraki Marina and Port, nestled on the scenic island of Rhodes, Greece, is steeped in rich historical significance and captivating myths. Historically identified as the site where the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, once stood towering over the entrance, it has been a pivotal maritime hub since ancient times.

According to legend, this colossal statue straddled the harbor entrance, although modern scholars suggest it was more likely positioned inland due to technical constraints.

The port’s history dates back to 408 BC, serving as a critical naval and commercial point throughout the ages. It played a significant role during the reign of the Knights of Saint John from the 14th to the 16th century, witnessing numerous sieges and battles that were pivotal in shaping the region’s history.

Today, Mandraki Marina is not only a reminder of the island’s resilient past but also serves as a yacht harbor featuring modern facilities. It includes a range of services for seafarers and is lined with shops, cafes, and eateries, enhancing the experience of visitors and locals alike.

The famed bronze deer statues, which stand on columns at the entrance of the harbor, pay homage to mythology, suggesting the place where the mythical Colossus once trod. This vibrant marina serves as a gateway to the beautiful Dodecanese islands, inviting explorers to delve into the rich tapestry of history, culture, and legend that Rhodes has to offer.
